Introduction
A number of wonderful people and organisations have helped Kaaren on her journey, and she enjoys being able to give something back. During her writing and editing career she has served on a number of committees, including for the ACT Writers Centre, the Canberra Society of Editors, Editors NSW, the Institute of Professional Editors committee for the national Mentoring Program as well as various sports clubs committees.
Kaaren is really excited about the opportunity to donate some of the proceeds from book sales of her current fantasy trilogy to two directly relevant and worthy causes.
Kaaren is also an experienced judge of both short story and full novel competitions. Since 2020 she has been a volunteer judge for quite a few of the Romance Writers of Australia annual competitions.
Fund raising
From each print book sold $5 goes to Dragons Abreast Australia to support their encouragement of survivors to take up dragon boating, and $3 goes to the McGrath Foundation for their breast care nurse program.
At the end of 2023, Kaaren had made donations totalling over $2000 shared between the two charities.
