As part of her public service career Kaaren spent many years as a training and development officer, where she was professionally trained to develop and deliver practical and engaging courses and workshops. She has also delivered numerous workshops for authors through a range of organisations. Her Just So philosophy is that training should be fit-for-purpose and entirely practical — as well as being engaging, interesting and presented in a way that it is easy for you to remember the key ideas.
We can develop a workshop, presentation or discussion group to suit your needs, or we can adapt one of our existing courses or workshops. There are way too many to list them all here, so it is best if you ask about what we have that may be relevant to your needs.
We have a range of fiction writing and self-editing workshops, all tested and previously delivered. This includes the successful Essentials of Engaging Fiction series, delivered serval times over to emerging writers and aspiring young adult writers. The Art of Manuscript Assessment was delivered to the ACT Writers Centre and the Institute of Professional Editors national conference in 2015.

Coaching in writing & editing
Would you prefer to work on specific things in a more personal setting? Perhaps you don’t have time to attend workshops, or there is just that one bothersome thing you want to master.
Since 2014, Just So, has been developing, managing and delivering writing coaching programs for authors as well as government and private sector agencies. We have found this to be a highly effective way of improving individuals’ writing skills — and fast. We use a model of one-on-one sessions at agreed intervals, and focus on work in progress by the participant. An excellent way to hone skills while also receiving constructive and professional feedback on your work. Kaaren has also mentored several emerging fiction editors through the Institute of Professional Editors national mentoring program. She enjoys helping others to achieve their goals, and is apparently really easy and fun to work with.
The feedback has been fabulous!
